Saturday I did a shoot for World Music and Independent Film Festival . I have the honor of being one of the featured photographers. We had three models to shoot and all were great. Here is Dahsa. Dasha is a talented , fun, and gorgeous young lady. We had a blast shooting and plan on using her again in the future. This lady is one of the best local models I have ever worked with. When you get a girl this beautiful and talented, well, it’s low hanging fruit. More from the other ladies soon. For now enjoy Dasha. Make up by Alpha Kitty Creations.
Way behind-But here’s Martha
Been working very hard lately with some new clients and teaching at some local workshops. Also, I start a new Meetup.com group for Photographer, Make Up Artist and other creative professionals in the area. Check it out here: Baltimore-Beauty-Fashion-Boudoir-Meetup. Here’s a couple of the very cute Martha. She is a young actress and new to modeling but is off to a great start. There are more of her but this is a fly by. More to come.
Some Teaching Images
Now on to the good stuff. We had several models in to assist with the classes and demonstrations and a professional Make up Artist. Below are images of Kara, Nancy, Bethany, and Samantha. I actually shot earlier n the week with Samantha for a test shoot. She was awesome as were all the girls and looks for more images to come.

Nerdery and Photoshop
I don’t even know if Nerdery is an actual word But, it seems appropriate. My friend Ron recently became pretty serious about playing Bass and is always talking about it. Kinda like I always talk about Photography. He is going to assist me from time to time on shoots and I needed to familiarize him with all the crap I use. Since we were making a trip to the studio I told him to grab his Bass and we could play around with some shots. I decided to practice my rudimentary Photoshop skills for some fantasy portraits and these are the results. Please feel free to make fun of him in the comments!Â
Kim Working it! (18+ Content)
While in TX I had the chance to shoot with the beautiful Kim. She was there as a Make Up Artist but found some time to get in front of the camera as well. I was glad too. She is a Talented MUA ,a great model, and all around fun person to work with. I knew I was gonna like her when we all sat down for dinner the first night and we ordered the same item and she looked at me an said “I bet I finish before you” The race was on! I lost. LOL
Yet more Images
Tying to keep catch up with the re-touch from some of my recent work. Almost there but of course a shoot from Monday, one today, and another Monday. Always good to work though. Honestly, when you do this and love it like I do it never really feels like work. I will admit it would be nice to have a studio manager and a re-toucher so I could spend more time shooting.
Mike can still learn new tricks!
There is a style of retouching right now that gives an image a very edgy high contrast look. I have wanted for a long time to learn this technique but it has evaded me until now. Of course there are plugins available for purchase that do a pretty good job of making the effect but they just don’t hit the mark for me. I took a crack at it tonight (no plug ins or Photoshop addons) on some of the recent South Padre images and then a couple of older images. Still learming but I’m getting very close.
SuperShoots-South Padre Island
Well I was in South Padre Island last week at a workshop put on by SuperShoots. JT who runs Supershoots is a great Photographer and instructor. His Passion for Photography is contagious and you can’t help but get motivated in his presence. He puts together a team of great Models, Make Up Artist, and has a great team of mentors. Needles to say I think the world of these folks, this was my third event with them and will not be my last. It as nice to get away from all the snow we had here in the Baltimore area. I shot a ton of images and haven’t finished them all yet but here are the most recent edits.
Ellen
I did some testing with Ellen and we made some pretty cool images. I pushed her pretty hard and she was a trooper. We did some shots for her portfolio that were a little more commercial than most of the stuff she currently has. I also wanted the artsy glamour images showing the beautiful tattoo on her shoulder. Then we went all out with crazy blue make up and wig. She was a lot of fun to work with and hopefully we can shoot again soon. Make up by Alpha Kitty Creations.
Okay, I am done with the snow thanks!
I read yesterday we have had over 80″ of snow SO FAR this winter. The average here is around 20″ for a year. We have had three storms with over 20″. I have a shoot tomorrow and maybe I will go out an use this stuff as a background for some cool theme. It has to come in handy for something.
